Education begins in the home. Schools should be there to guide discovery, to teach kids how to think (not what to think). I have been a teacher and it was so frustrating to see parents who thought it was totally the schools job to educate their children. Just stick ‘em on bus and expect them to come home and be able to read, write, and do the math. Because so many children come to school unprepared to learn more time is wasted on simple basics. Because of this the gifted or more advanced kids get left behind. Is it any wonder that our kids in this country rank near the bottom in things like math and science compared to other industrial nations? Also some children learn different than other children. Some boys learn different than some girls. When we lump everyone in the same classroom, or we put too many kids in a classroom some kids can and do get their genius crushed.
